About Milky Mist Dairy Food

Incorporated in the year 2014, Milky Mist Dairy Food Limited is an Indian company producing and selling a wide range of dairy and frozen food items. The company pioneered branded packaged paneer in India and, over time, added curd, ghee, butter, cheese, yogurt, ice cream, UHT long shelf life products, chocolates, and sweetened condensed milk to its portfolio. It follows an integrated farm-to-retail supply chain model wherein raw milk is directly sourced from 67,615 farmers across 22 districts in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka, all within a 400-kilometre radius of its principal manufacturing facility at Perundurai, Erode District, Tamil Nadu. In this facility, the company focuses on value-added dairy production. The second facility is at Bengaluru, Karnataka, where frozen foods, especially ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook products, are manufactured.

The logistics infrastructure of the company comprised 44 milk vans for sourcing, 252 reefer trucks for temperature-controlled transportation of perishable goods, and 34 ambient trucks for non-perishable items as of March 31, 2025. Sales & Distribution:The company's distribution network encompasses a range of sales channels: general trade, modern trade, HoReCa (hotels, restaurants, and cafés), e-commerce, quick commerce platforms, and exclusive Milky Mist parlours.

Any problems related to this unit such as shutdown or any negative events in Tamil Nadu can adversely affect the business.
  • Regulatory Risks: The business needs several statutory approvals and licenses for its manufacturing facilities and milk chilling centers. Failure to obtain or renew such licenses or failure to comply with relevant regulations such as food safety regulations, environmental regulations, labor regulations and taxes may have an impact on the business performance.
  • Contamination and Product safety Risks: Improper storage or handling of raw material or the final product may result in regulatory actions or tarnishing the brand image. Despite the several levels of testing that take place within the business, risks like tampering, temperature variations, shelf life and labeling can occur.

How allotment works

If the retail portion is not fully subscribed, every valid application is allotted in full. If it is oversubscribed, SEBI's rules require that as many applicants as possible receive at least one lot, so the shares are allotted by a computerised lottery across all valid applications, one lot each, until the retail portion is exhausted. Applying for more lots does not improve your chance in a lottery; it only increases what you receive if the issue is under-subscribed.

The basis of allotment document, published by the registrar on the allotment date, states the ratio: for example, one applicant in seven received one lot.

Allotment status is published by the registrar on its website, searchable by PAN, application number or demat account, and also on the exchange's website. Allotted shares are credited to the demat account the day before listing, and blocked money for unsuccessful applications is released the same day. The Rupix app can check allotment status by PAN once the registrar publishes it.

What happens on listing day

Shares list within three working days of the issue closing. On listing day the exchanges run a special pre-open session from nine o'clock, during which orders are collected and an opening price is discovered from them; trading in the share begins after that, usually around ten. The opening price is the listing price that appears on this page once the issue has listed, and the listing gain or loss is the difference between it and the issue price.

For a mainboard issue, the share then trades in the normal way with the exchange's price band for a new listing. For an SME issue, shares trade in lots rather than one at a time, and the market can be thin, so selling on listing day is not always possible at the opening price. Capital gains on shares sold within a year of allotment are short-term and taxed at the short-term rate.
